First Expedition

Hello there!

Well, I suppose actually posting a picture or two of my photography is the most obvious way to get this self proclaimed "photography blog" rolling.  Here are just three pictures from my excursion to The Grove, a local nature preserve.  I had just come from an art fair (which my parents tend to like to drag me to) and, being inspired by the  many photographers there, I decided to try my hand at photography and see what happened.

I realize now that the picture of this yellow flower (that I should know the name of, but don't) is a little over exposed in all of the wrong places.  This is what happens when I get my hands on editing software; I go overboard.

Ahhh, the cliche oats swaying in the breeze picture. I had to, I'm sorry.  What would a proper photography blog be without such a picture.  Anyways, I still really enjoy this picture. It has fluidity. I can feel the oats and feel the breeze.  As mentioned in my first ever post, I love using the super+ mode.  The blurred plants in the background distinguish me from no novice photographer, yet I still pride myself, or maybe I should really pride my camera,  in its wonderful ability to be able to blur things! Bear with me folks, "blur things" is the only way I know how to describe such phenomena, I will learn the lingo.... eventually.

This picture was featured in National Geography Magazine..... just kidding.  This is what I would like to believe because to be totally honest, this photo impresses me.  Again with the super+ mode and the blurred background! Maybe if the ant wasn't smack dab in the middle of the photograph, and I actually followed the rule of thirds, the photo would be a little better.  I can't believe you can see the most minute detail i.e. the hair on its head (maybe that is his mouth?). My choice of making this photograph black and white was because I figured that having it in color didn't add anything to the picture, in fact, it took away.  The contrast is beautiful.

Thanks all!
D
